The Derbyshire Girls League have published the junior fixtures, covering age groups from under 8 up to under 18 and fixtures played on Saturdays.
All our junior teams commence their league season on Saturday 11th September. It’s going to be a busy opening day at the Racecourse, with our new under 8 team getting things off to an early start as they play Melbourne Dynamo at 9am, with the under 11s kicking off against Outwoods half-an-hour later. The under 10s take on Chellaston Cheetahs at 1).15, and the under 9s complete the opening day fixtures at the Racecourse with their game at 12.45pm against Hilton Harriers. Development league fixtures for under 8 to under 11s have been scheduled until spring 2022.
The under 13s get their league season underway with an away trip, to play Belper Sports at Denby Institute (kick off 9.30am). There are 10 teams in the u13 league, so with home and away games against each team, this will make for a league season of 18 matches. Two other teams will be using the Racecourse as their ‘home’ venue, and after the opening fixture the other away fixtures will be played at Burton, Hatton, Lichfield, Wingerworth and Wirksworth.
Based on the current schedule the under 13s would complete their league fixtures in January – but once postponements due to the weather and pitches being unplayable are factored in, experience tells us the league won’t be finished that early! The League are understood to plan to review fixtures in December and will then decide about the prospects for Cup competitions based on the progress made at that stage with league fixtures - so the season will extend beyond the current scheduled fixtures.
The fixtures for each team have been loaded on to our website, but we are not automatically notified of any changes – which can occur at any point up to five days prior to a game – so it sometimes takes a little while for them to be amended. The most reliable source for the fixtures schedule is the League’s own published fixtures, which can be viewed at https://www.gotfootball.co.uk/m/search.aspx?
It's worth mentioning a couple of points of order, particularly for any players and parents starting out on their first season:
If you know, or anticipate, you might not be available for a game, therefore, please let your team manager know as soon as possible – as you might not be the only one that won’t be available!
