PPFC got off to an assured start, intercepting balls, winning tackles, applying pressure and keeping possession well. Following a handball by Wirksworth, PPFC were awarded a penalty which was calmly and accurately struck by Anya into the bottom right corner. PPFC linked up well, creating options which allowed them to move the ball between team-mates - in-front, sideways, and diagonal (triangles). This was quickly followed by another goal from Anya and then Fliss who ran the ball and took an accurate shot from just inside the box into the corner of the net. There were some well worked plays across the pitch involving numerous players, especially Lucy who made some good plays inside the opposition’s box. PPFC went on to see another great goal from Yumi and then from Brooke who took a powerful shot from just outside the area. However, Wirksworth are a determined opposition and they scored a deserved goal towards the end. After the match, Andy said “The team played with more intensity from the start but I think they could still do more. We need to really press and force the opposition into bad passes and intercept the ball. We're definitely getting better at anticipating what's going to happen, where we need to be and what we need to do. It was also good to see the girls play with more with composure to find a blue shirt, play into space or make a quality shot. I was really pleased Ruby got Player of the Match, she's determined and and consistently plays the right ball or makes the right run, helping PPFC create structured attacks. Nice work Ruby! Lets keep Enjoying the Challenge!"
