Having won their home fixture against the Division 1 league leaders, Outwoods Swan's, we were all keen to see if our PPFC's U14s could win the away leg as well. On a very cold and wet Saturday morning, the fixture was moved to the David Beckham 3G pitch so it could go ahead. The team took full benefit of the facilities, opting to stay in the warm in the changing room for the pre-match brief!
Outwoods started quickly, dribbling and passing, scoring their first goal early in the match. They built on this throughout the first half. However, PPFC dug in and made a much more determined and structured effort in the second half. Whilst they were unable to find the net themselves, PPFC contained Outwoods much better.
On the final whistle, our girls headed back to the changing rooms to warm up under the hand dryers whilst coach, Chris Pilkington, laid on the heated floor to warm himself up!
After the match PPFC's manager said "The team are playing some really good football this season and have been rewarded with good results. The team and the girls should be really proud of what they've achieved so far. We've been working on anticipating play to intercept the ball and understanding when and how to tackle to win the ball or to jockey to slow down and direct the opposition. We'll continue to work on this. It was great that Eloise was awarded Player of the Match. Eloise always works hard at training and on match day, driving attacks, pressing the opposition and winning the ball. Good stuff Eloise. Keep enjoying it and developing team."
