The players had a relatively light training session earlier in the week. Playing a match amongst themselves and building team spirit.
Hilton being an experienced and very capable team, it was going to be another big challenge for PPFC. On the day PPFC were hit by injuries and illness, with a number of players unable to play, not feeling one hundred percent, or becoming ill or injured during the game. This resulted in some players being moved around different positions. However, PPFC were not phased and got stuck-in to the game, enjoying the challenge throughout.
Once again defence were tight, with Lillie-Rose and Aoife pushing up to support the wings when needed. Midfield, including the wings worked throughout, covering a big area, playing off each other and generating good opportunities. The play created two goals for Anya followed by a well deserved 60th minute match winner from India.
After the match Andy said: "Its good to see the girls really enjoying the challenge now, especially over the last two games. Whatever the score, they keep going and smiling! I think the team spirit they themselves are creating is fantastic. Hilton played some long high balls to get behind PPFC and our players had to learn to deal with that. The team played well and it was a good performance from everyone. Maybe at times PPFC could have found a blue shirt and kept possession more by anticipating better and moving the ball quicker either by passing or running. Big thanks Taylor for goal keeping with a cold and to Fliss, Ruby, Eloise and Nevaeh who played unfamiliar positions. A big get well soon to our ill and injured players. Finally, well done to Anya who was awarded Player Of The Match for winning the ball up and down the pitch and making some good team play."
