Absolutely brilliant by the girls today – we are very proud of the team’s overall performance.
Nice safe hands by Sofia, with 2 quick succession dives at the end, top goal keeping - looked wicked from the side.
Good effort by Lily-May throughout, finding the bravery to put pressure on the opposition and close down - cracking corners too, managing to curl one straight in – which put a massive smile on her face, well done.
There was lots of energy and speed by Ayla and Edie on the wings – flying past the opposition with confidence and determination, winning Ayla the Player of the Match.
There were solid performances by the backs, who defended well – especially in the first half – again we liked Evie’s speed to get back and help, and very good game awareness by Ellie and Emily. We are still getting used to catching the opposition offside, but were pleased to see an improvement here.
Myah and Layla made so much forward play for the team, creating chances and keeping the ball in Belper’s half, showing such good quality throughout from these two - and onto the mini terminator, Zoe - who was on fire and in her element, shining brightly in the midfield, lots of passing, moving, through balls, tremendous dribbling – the lot.
All the team’s goals today were beauties; Lily-May’s goal from the corner, a good, no-nonsense belter by Myah, and a hat-trick for Zoe’s. Her third goal really stands out; a sequence of passes in our half finds Zoe in the midfield, she turns well beating one Belper player, she takes on the next, tapping the ball around her and running onto it with confidence and skill, running at pace with Belper working hard to catch up, she keeps the ball close and under control, the Belper goalie springs into action and comes off her line to narrow the angle, right on the edge of the box but Zoe taps the ball around the goalie, and is straight onto it for an easy tap-in to finish – what an amazing performance – super star
